anybody got a manual for a New World 32, very old cooker???

its ridged fixed and needs a very good clean but i really need to try and find the manual so if possible it can be refitted after kitchen revamp. Its not burning very well but may be ok with a good clean up.

No, but do you need it?? BS6172 cookers 2010

3.8 previously used appliance
appliance that stays within the ownership of the gas user but may be
relocated within an existing kitchen or moved from one property to
another during a house move

6.2 Previously used and second hand cooking appliances
A previously used or second hand appliance shall only be installed if it is:
a) in a serviceable and safe condition;
b) suitable for the gas being supplied;
c) fitted with a readable data plate.
Conversion to another gas, if necessary, shall be carried out strictly
in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, using the
manufacturer’s kit of parts.
For a previously used appliance, in the absence of manufacturer’s
installation instructions the manufacturer shall be contacted to obtain
the installation instructions. In the event that these are not available,
the cooker shall be installed in accordance with the present standard.
For a second hand appliance the cooker shall only be installed if the
installation instructions have been obtained.
COMMENTARY ON 6.2
For a second hand appliance it is a requirement of the Gas Cooking
Appliances (Safety) Regulations 1989 [5] that the manufacturer’s installation
instructions are provided with the appliance.
Where a previously used or second hand cooking appliance carries a
CE mark, its data plate is required to carry the information on type of gas
and appliance inlet pressure.
Where a cooking appliance does not carry a CE mark, it has to be borne
in mind that other criteria could apply, such as surface temperatures,
cooking appliance stability, ventilation, etc., and these need to be taken
into account in the method of installation.

theres no data badge so i need the instructions/manufacutres details to be able to test it correctly. I want to also check if its possible to fix with a hose? i dont think cooker hoses were about when this was made? not sure if this will fit to current regulations tbh.

i think new world has changed hands over the years so im not sure if they will have any information??

In the absence of manufacturer instruction refer to British Standards (6172) This will tell you that a flexible hose with bayonette is satisfactory if fitted in the correct manner. Clearances around the cooker. 20mbar working pressure at the appliance (i take it that it is G20 natural gas) Would not worry about the missing instructions if it is pre-existing.

Lovely old cooker though, looks in good condition too. Are the oven seals still intact?

how old is it, i can remember the conversions to ng happening as a boy, i would have thought this may be pre ng.
I dont know if they could help but the gas museum at leicester may be able to help.
It is worth a visit if you get a chance. Check opening times before traveling far.

I remember working on these in the 70's.
A really beautiful, bullet proof cooker.

The original governor will have been blanked so the op is 20mb.
Give it a good clean and adjust the primary air inlets on each burner for a good flame picture and the jobs a good in.
Btw, no problem using a flexible, obviously you need to fit a safety chain too; or refix it rigid for true authenticity.

only really worried about no data badge as your not supposed to fit without (cant confirm its g20). Not sure how this requirement is delt with if the appliance is pre data badge?? if there was such a time? thats why i want to try and trace down the instructions if possible.

the oven seems to work perfecty fine visually anyway. The guy has only used the oven once or twice since he brought it and it does seem in very good knick. He only uses one ring to warm soup etc..... he lives alone and has no close family, sad really so i want to try and refit it for him.

can you remember if theres a test point for burner pressure? didnt pay much attention to pipework inside as it was covered with fat and when i lit the grill it set alight :(

the trouble i have is its on a job where i have to do a full bathroom, kitchen carcus, cooker move (one property) kitchen sink (one property), fit rads and shower (one property), remove and refit sanitary for new floor (one property) and extras.... all in a day. Sometimes theres two of us, some days i do it on my own. So getting time to spend on the cooker is not much of an option. Im sure the site manager will just want it left disconnected, but ill try my best to get it back in.

There won't be a test point for burner pressure but you can check it off the injector.
No way will you ever get a MI for this and it would have been made to run on towns gas and converted in the 70's.
These things were much better engineered and built than 90% of the garbage we get today.
Just use a bit common sense and engineering judgement (which surprisingly you are still allowed to use) and do as MM said.
Personally i wouldn't have a problem with it if it came up to scratch.
