Is it possible to just replace my gas back boiler with a wood burning one without changing the pipework ?

No definately not . Solid fuel is classed as an uncontrolled Heat source , It can easily boil the water .
Best to get a HETAS reg plumber to survey your system .

could need the whole system piped differently tbh. Get a local hetas engineer or equivalent.

As above, but if its an old gas boiler with gravity primaries then it would possibly be easier, but seek advise from a Hetas engineer

the flow and returns need to be 28mm and the the f+e tank needs to be metal as well as the ball on the float valve and some kind of heat leak (there a lot more regs and additional componants cold water quenching, temp relief valves to name but a few regarding wood and coal heating nowadays) so no. Listen to the guys above.sorry.
