Moving Thermostat - easy or not?

Mate of mine wants heating thermostat moved from existing location in lodger's bedroomm into a communal location in dining room downstairs, considering attempting himself but asked if i could have a gander - not ever done anything with them before save turn up or down so wondering how feasable this may or may not be!
