I have a leak from this stopcock. It looks and measures very close to a 35x25 stopcock. I have tried all of our local suppliers plus some suppliers of old material but everyone comes to the same conclusion. One old tradesman helped by wrapping tape inside and it helped for a year or so, but it has started leaking again. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you.

Hi Shaun, thanks for the info. Yes, it is still in use just now.

Sorry I mean when was the last time you turned it off as once the packing has been done it shouldn’t leak until it’s been turned off again

I would just try repacking I prefer using loctite 55
If you really need to change stop tap that looks to me going by nuts and thread pitch to be made by prestex as it says bs 1010 on side a modern bs 1010 22 stop tap head should fit as a replacement.
Unfortunately you would have to buy the whole valve.

While you wait for a plumber to give it the necessary TLC tie 4 inch of garden twine round the spindle and place a plastic plant tray under to catch the drips. It may or may not stop dripping. If it stops grease round it with petroleum jelly. Put all your undersink gubbins into a plastic box so you can easily remove for the TLC etc. Don't forget to ring the plumber, you have some good answers above.

Cheers,

Roy (Rank amateur plumber, and anything else really)
