If really needed I use a flue knockout from an oil boiler.

But with the superfire I very rarely need it.
 
whats a heat matt?? I just use a turbo torch extreme. haven't used a heat matt in a few years.
 
Thinking about it, a piece of 6mm hardi board would prob be pretty good, night gov wit a go when the next mat dies, no good in a corner though!
