PTFE stands for Plumbers Tape For Everything.

Most of us are too thick to spell it, so PTFE it is! Lol!
Probably one of the best inventions in plumbing!

Boring.....

I was with a customer, last week, reaconed that PTFE stands for Plumbers tape for everything as the world wide web told him so. didnt think any more about it, then remembered today and wondered what it really was. I was hoping somebody would turn around and say "really", but no luck

A poor replacement for boss white and hemp.

Rarely use it myself, I prefer Loctite 55.

Love Ptfe, as the threaded fitting can be removed easily years later, unlike boss White & hemp which needs the torch at fitting first & a lot of work cleaning the threads. Good that Boss White & Hemp is, though.

Is it as good, I tried using it, but found it very difficult to put on, leaks a lot and comes off a lot when tightening up. may try it again as only tried it when i first started out. do you use it on radiator tales?

If you wrap it round a few times then form a sort of olive shape this might help.

6 wraps of loctite 55 in the thread and a thin smear of jet blue does it every time for me. I think a lot of people overload the thread and it pushes off.

LDF = bubbles i.e. pass me the bubbles so i can test this nipple.

Plastic tape Fries Eyeballs , don't try burning off stray bits with tourch , like way old hemp joints got tidied up !

PTFE degrades above 260c and can give off some really dodgy fumes

( 15 chems that H&S say "Cheerfull Cancer comments" about )

Anyone know what DILLIGAF means?

Answers most defiantly censored

I once got told that if you put PTFE tape inside a roll up ciggie then smoked it, it could kill you ??? Anyone know if that's true ?? Or point me to the grave of the person who tried it ??

Well when I'm stripping out scrap on a job, PTFE means to me:

Please Take Feckin Everything.

Hi How simple is it to replace the expansion vessel hose? Do I simply turn the boiler off, drain the boiler and swap hoses, using some PTFE tape?

Hi all I'm blanking a couple of openings in a hot water cylinder. The Screwfix Flomasta 1" BSP plugs fit perfectly but no washer supplied or listed. Given that the element has a washer and everything else is a compression fitting I'm concerned these should have one. The alternative is PTFE...
