Hand held band saw or angle grinder.

Hacksaw if you have a week to spare - or an apprentice who needs bringing down a peg or two

is it cast iron? usually a large angle grinder or if its coming out, a big hammer :)

Angle grinder with 1mm cast iron cutting blade. Once established its not asbestos,(unlikely). Asbestos used in 60's for external rainwater but CI usually found for soil pipe.

Thanks everyone, its on a 1930"s house and cast on the outside. I have a cutting disc on the angle grinder so will take it task, hopefully be able to fit a straight pan connector to it. I havent done one before so it will be a challenge!

You'll be fine.

If you can cut the pipe without breaking it, a Multikwik should go in nicely (get the bore as clean as possible). You can buy a 20mm offset connector if the alinement isn't perfect for the new pan but DON'T try to use an offset if the new pan outlet is too low for the existing pipe (you'll increase the amount of water sitting in the pan and flushing will be poor).

Tip - don't go for the tight cut against the wall straight away, go in just under the collar, get that out of the way first, it will then give you more room to work in to wards the wall.
Make sure you have on all your PPE, and take it easy.

And yes a standard Multikwik will fit inside.

Leave at least 100mm of branch for seal of pan connector, longer won't matter. Length of pan connector cut down to suit.

As already mentioned use ppe especially goggles and a decent dust mask! iron dust burns like a btiitch when its up ur nose

Last time id this i ended up pretty ill for weeks with something like flu so if you use a grinder make sure you ventilate the room and were a mask and wash your hands an stuff after ....theres alot of nasty stuff getting heated up there.

Oh you can get a pipe chain cutter but not sure if youd get in there probably be tight.

Looks like this but ive used larger ones ...used one on 12" cast before

The fittings below are for a mixer bar attached to a self contained shower. i.e not a wall. The attaching screws have snapped. I could get two new brackets, dismantle that existing one and start again or I could try and re attach via those screws, removing the broken ones from the plate and wall...

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...

Hi. I need a new toilet supply line but don’t know the size type of the fitting at the shut off valve. It is not 3/8 compression. It is a plastic nut about the same size as the one going into the cistern but has a different thread. Attached is a photo. Can you advise. Thanks.
