click on the blue wrighting for the link or type in pipe straightening on you tube its the one with the fat lad in a blue top and venture pics on his wall

al ask him but what would you pay for a cool bit of kit like that ?

A fiver, max. If you ever need to do long 10mm pipe runs that are visible, then you are not doing it properly or are doing it in a council house where it wouldn't matter anyway.

It is just another pointless tool that wouldn't get used imo.

Looks good and works very well but bulky for everyday use and would the rollers survive install work, i doubt it.

Pipe straighteners for 8 and 10 mm are nothing new. I had one 30 years ago. Nothing as sophisticated a that though.

Why would a council house not matter?

Aesthetics are not part of the brief with council housing, not round here anyway. For instance, we are plumbing in hundreds of electric showers at the minute, the housing officer will not allow any channeling, the cable is surface run from the CU in conduit and then chrome piped.

It doesn't really matter what the tenants think of it.

Looks like it does the job, how often it would get used and if it would earn its keep are another matter. Like Gray the only 10mm I use is for oil lines.

there isnt any tool out there like this and it will last a long time its a nice tool to use and isnt heavy or bulky at all

they probably aren't given time to take pride in their work. quick in and out

That is exactly right, an unfortunate state of affairs, but that is what happens with large volume contract work that just about covers the diesel.

Why doesn't the op ask the bloke to send the product over to one of the mods who can demo it, if that sort of thing is done on here.

Ok settle down i have been a council plumber for 9-years and i take great pride in my work! :cuss:

rothenberg have put an order in for some . any body else in a large company have a view on this . all feed back will be good GOOD/OR BAD THANK YOU

If I'm using 10mm it's either in the wall or plastic coated for oil lines. Wouldn't dream of surfce mounting 10mm it will get ripped to bits.

It's just a toy that I can do without. But that's just my opinion.

i think it's a bit gimmicky and if rothenberger are going to do it the price will be too much imho

try it on a 28mm copper , but dont see a use for it as there is not a huge use of a soft copper

It's a brilliant tool, and I personally like to straighten micro bore whatever I'm doing with it. It will prob be far too expensive though.

when they have been packaged the price will be around £30 its great and will last . the tool is light and robust

Get us some freebies from your mate and we'll give our honest opinions on them.
I would try one as it is a pain to try and perfectly straighten 10mm that will be visible, but I wouldn't buy one unless I knew it was going to pay for itself.

I saw the pegler one on their website yesterday but couldn't find it listed anywhere for sale though.

Hi Matpipe, I think you have done a fantastic job on the tool and i am impressed as i have never seen one before, Ps you are not fat mate

its called a need for future replacement and maintenence. Most council contracts have it written in the design specification that all pipes, fixtures etc... can be easily repair or replaced. There own maintenence engineers are normally multi trades that do compression only plumbing.

hi mate, i think anybody who has ever installed long runs, drops in 10mm copper could identify what a pain it can be to straighten out the pipe. The tool looks very good, congratulations. Now if you can get it in the market place for a decent price i can see it selling, and i would be interested.

if your confident in the tool you could maybe let a few members try it out and post reviews? (we will send it back honest;) ) maybe if anybody has a simular type of tool they could compare them against each other??

Thanks for for great comments. I have 25 samples being sent to me, I will see what I can do.

Can i ask, why would you ever bother running long microbore runs, that are visible? I can not see a positive reason for doing it, it costs more, takes more time to install and then is much more susceptible to damage once it is there.

I honestly do not think a tool like this, can ever pay for itself.

For £10-15 (Like the pegler version above) I would buy one, just to make the small amount of 10mm I do look neater, for £30 it would stay on the shelf.
