I understand this will need to be replaced by a gas safe engineer, I have no problem with that at all. I want to stay safe.
Problem is last year we had problem with boiler and didn't know any gas safe engineers so picked one from trusted trader. Did not have a good experience at all.

Anyway the boiler reset on top tripped and when reset the pump runs, and boiler fires. After a few seconds there is sort of gurgling noise then more metallic sound like metal running through pipes. I guess its the water in the heat exchanger 'boiling'. Then the reset trips again. When I touch the pump it is too hot to touch, almost burning finger.
My guess is the pump is failing and therefore the heat exchanger is overheating and tripping the reset.

So is my guess of a replacement pump sound a good guess, before someone qualified comes to look?
I have had a quick look and it seems that a whole pump or just the head is available. Which is better?

Last, and most important point, how can I find a decent gas safe engineer?
Thanks

You can post on here. Lot of good lads. Or ask family, friends, colleagues for a recommendation.

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

Hello, I am seeking some advice, I have a POTTERTON PROMAX 28 COMBI Boiler and I noticed yesterday that the water around the house is no longer warming up. The heat exchanger has been changed 6 months ago, so I do not believe it is that. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Thanks

Every two weeks or so I have to go and top up the system because the hot taps are running cold. Boiler display is flashing 0.6 bar and I fill up to 1.3. I've had an engineer look inside the boiler and he can't see anything wrong. I've checked the pipes all over the house and cannot see any...
