Looking at getting some tools over Christmas period. Mainly for gas servicing/repairs so I've got the right tools when I start back work. What would you recommend? Is there any 'must haves' for servicing or repairing boilers? Cheers

Although I don't service boilers I couldn't work without my watch. It's got a stop watch function which means I'm never scratching around for a stop watch for TT's, working pressure etc.

One of those magnetic pick up tools that look like a radio aerial with a magnet on the end. Invaluable for when you drop a screw at the back of a boiler.

Small socket set, bit ratchet set.
decent hoover
magnetic bowl
a decent multimeter
large supply of fast blow and 3 amp fuses
small hop up ( for dwarves like me and cropp)
bike pump with long hose
angled extention for awkward expansion vessels
dust pan and brush
a proper box for spare o rings and washes

After having numerous crap pumps, I can honestly say the regin one is well worth the money and better than all the others. Super long hose is awesome

One of these for clamping expansion vessel hoses.

Before you slate me for damaging the brading. Mechanics use them all the time on braded brake and fuel lines.

Brass bristled brushes. You can thank me later.

If your wife can suck like m18 Milwaukee then I want to know if she has any sisters? The m18 Hoover is the daddy.

I always find a socket near a boiler, cant be assed recharging yet another tool, got myself a nice little compressor recently due to the exorbitant cost of canned air and it will also pump up expansion vessels, negating the need for 3 arms (one for the valve connector, one to pump with and one to hold onto the top of the cupboard with) :) no need for a dust pan and brush as the compressor blows all the crud well clear of the boiler now :)

one of those battery pack compressors

these things
Jump Start Battery Booster With Compressor

Best thing i ever bought used for pumping up vessels. Fk that with foot pumps etc. Fkn kills me and i aint getting paid enough to kill myself! Mine was about 30 quid from one of those pound shop places.

My Hoover works on same batts as rest of kit. It blows and sucks ! Regin pump for me , recharge a 100 exp in 60 seconds plus no pat test for it or Hoover just 7 chargers
