Hi,

I have recently had a combi boiler installed (Vaillant Ecotec pro 28) and the plumber has used a plastic push fit tee on one of the pipes leading into/out of the boiler. i think it's the cold water but as you may have gathered i have no knowledge of plumbing/heating whatsoever.

Another tradesman working on a different job in the house said that there should be no plastic used within a metre of the boiler. This push fit is about 3 inches below the boiler.

The plumber maintains that it is fine but obviously given the potential dangers i wanted to check....small baby in the house, etc.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Could be the condensation pipe, this has to be in plastic and allows the condensation from the heat exchanger which is created by high efficiency boilers to flow out and away into either a soil pipe or soak away. It will be connected to the boiler with a plastic fitting

the other tradesman should have qualified his remark with that applies to the flow and return of the heating circuit if your really concerned post a picture

Was the other tradesman a Gas Safe engineer? Why not get the plumber back to pass comment on the plastering and woodwork?

If its on the cold water pipework its fine

Sounds like a plumber half quoting a regulation and putting the fear of god into folk.

Once again a little knowledge causes issues.

Post a picture of the pipes underneath the boiler.

Hi there advice , dont get me wrong its good your being vigilant buts its absolutely fine, its only heating pipes that it adheres to ,, but the way plastics going it wont be long b4 you can go straight to boiler with it , infact im sure its started,

like simon says post pic im sayin its fine because you say its cold but you might be wrong ,,,

As the others have said, post a picture up and we will let you know.

Sorry for the delay...struggling to post a picture! keep getting the error message below:
