My 24ri boiler is four years old and has started making loud clicks and banging noises when shutting down.
This after it was off for six months due to house rewiring and relocation of header tank.
It does not happen every time it shuts down and was serviced by plumber in September.
 
Hard to say what that is without seeing and hearing it , maybe get your gas engineer back to have a look at it.
