Photos and write ups for any appliances you are going to work on, also meter tests, installations, servicing etc, its a good sized portfolio.

the portfolio should hold 70 days worth of work in it, ( I think )

Took me 8 months to build my portfolio working alongside an experienced engineer, we did installs of boilers,Dfe's, ILFE's, services of both plus cookers. At the time it seemed never ending documentation but as he pointed out to me, once you're out on the job you need to be confident in what your doing and most importantly SAFE. Good luck and hang in there, I ended up driving all over the south to go to jobs for free to get the experience. It was definitely worth it !!

Yes, there is a fee. Around ÂŁ460 in your first year IIRC.

Have you already started college? If so, they should have told you all this already. I wouldn't even think of doing your practical assessments until you've got some experience. And don't think of your portfolio in terms of doing the bare minimum - it should be about getting as wide a range of experience as possible, and getting the basics down so it's second nature.
