Hi Friends

I've got a custard who's been on the grog and hasn't washed for a while. Seriously, he's had no hot water and has now dried out after a stint in hospital.

His gaff has all been cleaned up as it was a total karzy, wipe your feet on they way out scenario. Very bad indeed.

Anyway, he's got electric only and now wants hot water to wash.

The tank sounds like a fortic tank and on description has one immersion only that's wired to again what sounds like a timer (non digital).

Apparently it worked a couple of years ago but not now.

How simple will it be to change this immersion? Also, as I'm weak in electrics, how can I test the thermostat insert incase this has blown and as such will be an easier fix for me and cheaper for the custard?

This post is not a end up. The custard needs hot water now to try to keep himself clean and to have a standard of living now he's off the grog.

I want to sort him out before Christmas.

Thanks all.

If the stats got power going to it and its not working just change it for a new one, easy enough job.

it will depend on the age of the tank on how easy it comes out, a little heat with your blowtorch will free them most of the time if it don't want to come loose.

Thanks plumber.

Always try to loosen the immersion before you drain down. The tank is a lot more rigid. I stick the spanner on it and give it a tap with the lump hammer. Once it starts to move I drain down.

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
