Hi guys,

I am having problems with what I thought would be a simple task. Just fitting my terrier 2 way trv onto new towel radiator in the bathroom. The instructions are not very clear and I cannot find much advice on the web for this specific design so I came here. Hopefully someone more competant than myself can give me a pointer.

The problem is that the damn thing just won't push home. It looks like it should push on furth than it does but I cannot get it to budge. Is the plastic pin on the unit meant to push into the radiator valve?. There is a hole in the end used for a fitting screw for another fixture. I have tried pushing it pretty hard and also screwing it but it will not push on far enough to be secured with the compression/ threaded fitting.

I'll add come images to make it clearer what I am talking about.

Thanks

Thats a trv head with a manual valve, it aint going to ever fit.

Get that valve taken off and remove that ptfe, bloody awful and doing no good.

leave as is with manual valves as it might be a heat leak

Try the TRV head on the other valve, if you've bought a pair, it should fit on one of them and there should be a white or chrome plastic cap for the valve in the photo

As others have said you're trying to fit to the manual balancing valve. The other valve will normally have a plastic cap which holds the valve shut when head not fitted. Remove plastic cap and fit head.

Hi there guys. Thanks for fast responses.

I was about to upload more images etc but I just talked to my father who installed the radiator who sais yes indeed he had the valve around the wrong way haha.

Well...

Thanks alot guys =)

Actually here i'll add a couple of images, you might enjoy.

He will have to swap those 2 fittings around since the thermostat is on the outlet.

Why are you using different forums names?

"Why are you using different forums names"

Oh yea so I am. When I made an account I used the name Silico and email address but then realised I did not have access to that address so made a new one, Spiffico.

I did not confirm the Spifico account. It means the person who owns that email address will be getting my mail. I will have to make sure not to use Spiffico again and delete the account on this site if I can.

No need to swap the valve bodies, just the heads
The trv will work on the flow or return with the terrier bi directional valves

If its a bi directional trv there's no need to swap the valves round,
However, you do need to remove that ptfe tape of the threads as its not doing anything at all just makes the nuts tighter to do up, I'd also turn the other valve around so the both pointing at each other

No no no, have them sticking out into the room so every time you walk into them you will remember this forum and the helpful advice/complete drivel (delete as appropriate) you were given

Make sure that floorboard has a support under it or it will put stress in the compression joint & you'll have a leak under the floor ;)

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
