Just been to a Worcester oil boiler I installed along with full system 16 years ago. Never has been serviced for 16 years since I commissioned it. Worst timescale neglect I have seen
Boiler burner had finally broke down with electrical fault and customer rang me to fix it.
Strangely, one of the easiest services I have done, - just a lot of sulphur to hoover out, plus usual new nozzle etc. Guy has saved a fortune not paying for 15 services though, I have to admit.

Or you have lost money by not chasing him to get it serviced haha. Good to see something you have installed last so long without maintenance though.

bet that made you feel old :D and im sure oil boilers are just happy chugging away no fuss

Very true! If I had have kept in touch with him I could have been servicing it over the years. Easy money jobs. But I remember he wanted a bathroom done unreasonably at short notice and I assumed he had got somebody else to do work.

The 16 years have gone fast, but I was recently servicing another oil boiler on a heating system I had done entire lot in 1987. Boiler still like new and original. That makes me feel old and I can still recall doing much of the job.

If it says nothing else, it says you set it up right !
Well done that man !

:blush5: Yes, I had set it up using the old wet and dry kit in those days and it obviously did well. Surprised that the nozzle has lasted so well and didn't cause sooting.

It's amazing that you can remember some jobs so well from the past, but when yer filling in d work diary ye have trouble remembering where he were that morning. Haha

Yes, some jobs and moments that happen on jobs I remember really well.
Yet as you say, I can't remember where I have been the previous day, or what exact materials if I don't write it down

Very true.
You can go to a job that you installed 25 years ago and still remember all the pipe runs. House will have changed owner a few times in that time. Never tell them that you did it, just in case they have had problems.

Or what you have walked out to the van for!

I don't feel an idiot. I just walk back into the house and then realize I needed something I went out in the van for.

I'm glad it's not just me who does that. I thought I was getting old fast and my brain was malfunctioning.

I don't suffer that problem too much.

I send the apprentice to the van and he usually bring back the wrong item or fitting.
He claims I'm going senile and asked him to get the wrong fitting.

I told him today, if you think I'm asking for the wrong fitting - bring the one I asked for and bring the one you think I need.

Ah...what fittings will I get tomorrow ...I wonder

Hello, I am seeking some advice, I have a POTTERTON PROMAX 28 COMBI Boiler and I noticed yesterday that the water around the house is no longer warming up. The heat exchanger has been changed 6 months ago, so I do not believe it is that. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Thanks

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...
