The English modal verbs are a subset of the English auxiliary verbs used mostly to express modality (properties such as possibility, obligation, etc.). They can be distinguished from other verbs by their defectiveness (they do not have participle or infinitive forms) and by their neutralization (that they do not take the ending -(e)s in the third-person singular).
The principal English modal verbs are can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, would, and must. Certain other verbs are sometimes, but not always, classed as modals; these include ought, had better, and (in certain uses) dare and need. Verbs which share only some of the characteristics of the principal modals are sometimes called "quasi-modals", "semi-modals", or "pseudo-modals".

Hi,
I had a prepayment gas meter fitted a couple of years ago and always kept it in credit.
I ran out the other day and since I have topped up the meter, I can not start the boiler.
Locks out.
I believe it is air trapped in the gas pipe as I have had a problem like this before, always when...
I've an Ideal Standard Waterways bath/shower mixer tap. The pull to direct the flow to the shower head is inline (at the base of the shower hose) on the bath spout/tap. On activation only 50% of the flow goes to the shower. The remainder continues to discharge to the bath spout (and is wasted...

Grateful if someone could help with this (probably very basic) problem. I have two of my radiators turned to 'off' yet when the heating is on, they both pump out heat full blast. Other radiators in the house stay off when turned to this setting- any ideas why this might be happening?
Thanks
Hi,
I have a Ferroli wall mounted boiler for central heating. It has a tempra sticker on it, but looking at the manuals on their website I think its its a Modena. We use the timer to managed it, it comes on perfectly at the start of an 'on' period but seems to ignore the 'off' time. Adjusting...
Hi all,
I'm doing some changes to my central heating system which involve moving two rad tails and have discovered that I cannot drain the system.
All the rads are turned off to minimise the water loss but when I opened the drain valve nothing comes out (well just a trickle).
I checked for...
