The DHW is working intermittently. It works most often if the whole combi-boiler has had some time to cool down. If I run the hot tap for (e.g.) a bath, if I get the hot water in the first place, turning off the tap and then turning it back on usually results in cold water. There is an intermittent rattly sound in the boiler, even when the burner is not lit.

I'm reading that the good central heating/intermittent DHW is often a sign of a sticking diverter valve.

Is this right? Thanks in advance.

It's a sign of many things and you should call a GSR engineer to check. Fiddling with it yourself will be dangerous and expensive.
