I have only fitted a couple of Worcester waves so not up to speed with smart controls
I am quoting to fit a new combi and they want wireless controls that are smart
Can anyone suggest any that dont need any wires to the room thermostat/programmer so I can do some research

confort rf 2 or whole hog and wave

How much do They want to spend mate not bad ones out there for not a lot and then you can spend as much as you want upwards. I have had some customers very satisfied with the Salus it500

Was just reading the installation instructions for hive
Is the thermostat wire free?

Yes. Thermostat and programmer in one is wireless. You plug hub in to customers wifi router, wire receiver in to boiler/wiring centre and thermostat comes with a wall mounting back plate that can go anywhere

I'd stay away from programmers. Most of the time you spend half an hour explaining how to program, the customer nods and doesnt remember anything and you get a call back a week later..

Id go for
Honeyywell Y87RF + RFG100 Mobile access
or Nest (needs a plug socket though)
both sub £200
both wireless and controlled through phone
both easy as pie to use, no programming kerfuffle
