On a ses pit how many vents need to go to air and can you dergo a ses pit? Do you treat a ses pit same as standard sewer vent needs

Can we is use wall tile vents to air custard doing loft conversion and has had roof done already with stacks free air in loft

Do you mean a cess pit or a septic tank ?
When you say out through wall do you then mean to take it on up and open vent it above gutter line somewhere ?
You have to be carefull as we installed a new septic tank on a job all vented as should be the tank vent was on the ground but all the stink dropped straight on to clients patio it was awfull !
We extended the tank vent up to a hedge only to dump the smell straight in to the neighbours !
Last resort was a new trench and vent located remotely in trees behind shed all worked a treat !
The joys of working in a valley as the oil fired AGA at same house caused as many problems as wind in valleys will do strange thongs to vents and flues !

The MI's for the septic tank/cesspit will tell you what you need as will the building regs.

You will be lucky !
Most are older units many are brick built by a builder and normally they just work away until a problem occurs then it more about knowledge and experience that any rules or regs ?
I would ask the owners how it was vented before works commenced and try to get as close to that if it has been working OK ?
Although nothing like the stink of a septic tank in the morning to clear the sinusses ?
I have worked inside a fair number replacing and altering pipework that seperates the men from the boys !

might be wrong but septic tanks just store and cesspit treat the sewage to give clean effluent and now I understand building regs dont like them draining into streams etc and you have to install proper mini treatment plants!!!, as the old ways are no longer acceptable!!!!!!!!!!!

Nearly right !
cess pits are a store
septic tanks basically allow solids to seperate through 2 or 3 stages then a semi treated effluent is discharged to a suitable drainage field (soakaway )
Treatment plants are a stage further and we have even discharged into the river Avon !
You are supposed to be able to drink it but will give that privilege to someone more deserving than myself !

never can remember the names, just know how each works. just noted when i went house hunting last year that theseptic tank had to be replaced, and what a kerfuffle the b regs were making of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once you get to know the system it is easy but you have to go down a route that is the same as if you are building a nuclear power station !
Consent to discharge !
Used to be the NRA and they knew there stuff now it is enviroment agency and it is ike banging your head against a brick wall !:banghead:
