Hello guys, looking for wisdom and possibly some tips, i am fitting a saniplus soon and i know that the discharge pipe diameter size is 22mm, now does this have to be copper or can it be overflow pipe? i know copper will advantageous because of the joint free bends but i am thinking that copper is more expensive, and what about off the shelf full bore non return valves?? rodding points ect, the run is to go vertical approx 2 meters then horizontal 10-12 meters. thanks in advance?

Hello Supared,
This has been taken direct from the saniflo site at www.saniflo.co.uk

All discharge pipework should be either copper or rigid solvent weld plastic. Flexible pipes (e.g. those normally using metal grab ring joints) can be used. However, this pipework is ony suitable if used without joints since these tend to narrow the bore of the pipe, and also it should be supported every 1/2 metre to avoid dipping in the piperun.

Now my view, remove the burs in the pipe and use the glue sparingly you dont want to create a bunch of grapes inside the pipe to block the discharge pipe and wreck the machine remember a lot of the overflow pipe out there has an inside size of less than 22mm.

saniPlus installation instruction states that it can be installed in 22 or 32mm pipework, the horizontal pipe work on macerators is intended to have a gravity fall to the soil pipe so clear the machine climb vertically to the highest point then over the top creating a downward fall out to the soil or drain.

saniPlus instructions are here http://www.saniflo.co.uk/upload/products/14/101135-manual_saniplus.pdf

If I were installing a macerator and in a position to take out the pipes conventionaly for the shower, basin & bath then I would use gravity and buy a simple macerator like a saniflo and put a seperate dedicated pipe in just for the Muncher that way when you get problems only the WC is out of action.

Remember there is no such thing as Gravity The Earth Sucks !

Cheers muncher some useful info there, there's no way i can conventionally run the waste from basin, shower and bath to outside hopper head so unfortunatly they will have to rely on the unreliable and have it all go through the chewer, i was trailing through you tube and the tinternet looking for dischrage pipe options to no avail but overflo with 45% bends will do nicely, thanks again.

Hi, basic question, any insight much appreciated. Looking to have an outdoor tap in my front porch fed from 15mm pex coming up from suspended floor. Pic 1 is inside porch, pex temporarily clipped to give an idea of pipe placement (ignore shoddy blockwork of booted cowboy builder!), Pic 2 is...

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
