Discuss Radiator not filling from F&E in the UK Plumbing Forum | Plumbing Advice area at PlumbersForums.net

Hi so I changed a towel radiator in bathroom from a normal radiator.
I bunged the f&e tank and vent pipe , drained about a pint of water out the pipes.
Altered the pipes to the new rad.
Then removed the bungs.

Gone to bleed the radiator it filled slightly now no air is coming out.
I've checked the other radiators upstairs and they're not bleeding neither.

I'm confused as to why, it seems like the water isn't coming our the f&e tank as the water level stays the same.

Theys no blockage from the feed to the tank as when I push down on ball cock it starts filling .

Any advice be appreciated

Thanks

Possible you've blocked it putting the bung in. Crack the nut on the top of the pump in the airing cupboard (or the heighest compression fitting in there) with a few towels underneath and see if the water stops or slows.

The pipe from the f&e tank drops down into the airing cupboard where the cylinder is.
As it drops through the ceiling it has a gate valve.

Shall I crack the nut on the gate valve and see if the water stops running?

I gather if theys a blockage from the tank the water will stay in the tank and not drain through

Thanks

Yep thats right. The other common block place is where the vent and cold feed come together so if the pipe between gate valve and cistern isn't blocked then check the pump to ensure it comes out of there next. Bare in mind you will have to run a fair amount of water off thats sitting in the pipes already
