rad
The radian, denoted by the symbol rad, is the unit of angle in the International System of Units (SI) and is the standard unit of angular measure used in many areas of mathematics. The unit was formerly an SI supplementary unit (before that category was abolished in 1995). The radian is defined in the SI as being a dimensionless unit, with 1 rad = 1. Its symbol is accordingly often omitted, especially in mathematical writing.
Why is the radiator feed approx. 24degC just beyond/out of the Vaillant gas boiler (and also at the first radiator), when I've set the flow temp to 53degC? With boiler firing, the 53deg setting is always flashing on and off on the display - does this mean it never actually gets to 53?
Thanks!
Does adaptor exist?
Hi, looking to move a rad, the original valves will be hidden behind a bath, so I was wanting to leave original valves in place so no need to drain down, connect a run of 15mm pipe connecting to its new position. What size connector would fit on old rad valves that would...

Hi I’m new here and don’t know a thing about plumbing so be gentle on me as I am also going to ask a possible dumb question, this summer I turned of the ”heating“ on the Drayton box and turned thermostat to zero but obviously had to keep the hot water on as I do every summer but I noticed the...
I'm in Canada, where the standard is NPT. I just put in a heat pump and shut off the hand valves but I want the rads in the room to warm up if the heat pump can't keep up. NPT thermostatic rad valves are available but are hellish expensive. The sizes I have are 3/4" and 1". The system used to be...
Fitting a vertical rad after having hallway replastered and after a bit of digging about online, I have two options for plumbing it in as pipes are easily accessible beside the rad, not been boxed in yet.
1.Plumb it traditionally with flow/return at the bottom, this would require me buying the...
My heat only gas boiler is drained from the boiler drain valve - There is no water in the F&E tank. The hot water vented cylinder is removed. So far so good
Twice this evening I heard radiator gurgling noises which frightened the life out of me

Hi all,
We've sourced 2 new rads that we’re looking to get installed in place of our 2 existing ones and have been quoted £350 for a direct swap (including balancing and fitting TRVs that we are supplying) or £700 if we’d like the addition of the pipes being chased into the wall. I wanted to get...
So these damn problematic vertical rads again.
I’ve had the Trv correctly fitted now but can’t seem to get rid of the air.
The advice on here was to refill and bleed slowly which I did but now I’m literally bleeding it every day for two weeks now. About two seconds of air then another...
