Is there a trick to getting these out to clean?

I serviced one today and it was a pain in the behind!!

I have serviced plenty of the combis and they have a 's' shaped rubber hose into the trap so its easy to remove.
The heat only has a short rubber elbow and the trap hits the bottom of the sump when trying to take it out.

Would a wet vac work or just leave all the debris in the bottom?

It was the newer type.
silly place to put it with so much free space.

They are a pain! Reason they're like it is they had to drop the heat exchanger to allow for rear flueing, so insufficient room for the elbow.

Its the same as the glowworm older ones that are sealed on underside inside the back of boiler. Theyre awkward enough to renew but cleaning is pain in bum.

I will say though that i would rather have the option of rear flueing and it take a few more moments on the service.

try the halstead ace ones for impossible access to the cap, especially if some doughnut has it in a cupboard 6 inches off a work top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you wash hex enough it clears sump? Or when u got silencer off pour water straight in. I preferred old ones even if they did leak sometimes when u put it back on. !
