Hi guys,
I've been experiencing strange smells, in bathroom floor mounted cabinet next to a corner unit where my soil stack is with a Floplast AAV

I've now removed the unit next to the soil pipe and now have full access.

I notice if I put my fingers into the slotted vents on the AAV that face downwards I can push some kind of stopper up then it drops down again.

Am I right in thinking this is the actual valve and if I push it up then it drops down again then this means the valve is closing ok?

Or is there more to it than that.

The floplast aav is solvented in to the pipe.

I'm just trying to figure if it is this that releasing the whiff by staying open or not

Cheers

I think you've proved it can open but not that it seals properly when closed.

As a temporary diagnostic, try putting some cling-film over/around the AAV to see if that stops the pong.

If the toilet coupling to the soil pipe is flexible (like a bellows) that's going to be another good place to investigate.

Hello. This is my first ever post asking for help. I had a bathroom renovation done early this year which I did myself. I wanted to have a low level shower tray sitting flush to the ground and was not able to get access to the main vented stack as it's boxed in from the inside of the house and...
