Can anyone tell me how getting likes on your page helps?

Using social media will always help in anything you do,
Facebook - Builds a fan base you can keep friends, past customers and protential customers up to date on how your doing, give a picture on your work also maybe give out offers

Google Business page- i think is key, you get people searching "bathroom fitters, boiler installers etc" the more interaction you have here the futher up the search listings your company will go

i have only been in business 6 months i spend every day updating website, google busness page, facebook, twitter, and more it doesnt hurt its putting your company out there to potential customers the more you update these things google see you are a thriving business and bump you up the search ranking, i have certain aspects of my website already on 1st page of google searches i wont be happy until my company is everywhere

facebook likes has nothing to do with seo im afraid .. clever links and back links to your website .. like what BOD just did .. will increase your position on search engines

ill like your pages though guys!
