just been to a job 240v to pump, pump not spinning, new required.
it had one of those pcb type wiring centres that all the external controls and bpoiler are wired into, when no demand on programmer pump still has 110v to it, does anyone know why?
has anyone got any advise on getting gas safe registered in my own name ,just wonderd what sort of questions i will be asked,
I no how to do gas rates, tightness test, wp, bp, flue annalyser, just wondering is there anything else that anyone was asked when they did theirs?

im planning on doing 2 services, will that be ok or will they want to see some other type of work?

The other thing is will i need to know how to work out ventilation requirements without looking in a book, i normaly use a ventilation slide rule, is this ok to use on gs inspection?

Also say if i had a 1mbar drop over 2 mins and no smell of gas, its within the permissable drop but if i didn't investigate this on the inspection would i fail?

sorry for all the questions, i have found this forum realy helpfull and would be great to get a heads up on anything i may have missed or need to know, would realy apreciate it if anyone has any advice, thanks !

went to do a boiler service and found a mbar drop over 2 mins at the meter, within the limit but i thought id investigate, found leak to be comming from the iscolation valve to the gas fire, took valve apart and regreased and the leak stopped. I was unable to replace the valve without taking up the floor. After doing this i realised that the customer had been using the iscolation valve as a means of turning the fire off which probably explained the reason it had been leaking, he is 90 odd and cant bend down to the controlls on the fire, instead he uses a bean bag to lean on and shut the iscolation valve off, i explained that this is why it was leaking in the 1st place, just wondered what are your views on this?
