Hey anyone used the bar shower fixing brackets that fit in the wall. Any advice on what distance to set them in the wall? So you can connect bar shower after its been boarded and tiled. I have always used the fixing kits that fit on the surface before, were you cut the pipes back so 25mm is sticking out then attach.

Bit concerned that by installing one of these brackets it will leave a compression fitting in the wall as it's a compression connection to the bracket. I thought compression should only be used if the fitting was accessible? Not in a tiled wall

Had bother with the compression fitting on the brackets in the past. Just use soldered backplate elbows, fitted level, at 150mm centres, with the pipe connection flush with the back of the plasterboard .

It depends on the thickness of the board and tile and the length of the 3/4" threaded tails. Some collars that the showers come with need a large amount of thread as they are deep so they cant be fitted so tile will have to be drilled spot on. Each job differs. Aim to have the Compression nuts 2/3mm back from the tile board. If using back-plate elbows I have the face of them 2/3mm behind the face of the tile then the collars will fit. Never had a problem with the compression fittings always air test to 10 bar before the board is fitted.

So the bracket with compression fittings in the wall are not advisable?

Which one is it? If its a marflow shwrpl8 its gine as the nuts in the wall simply hold the pipe to the plate and are not a water seal as the pipe padses through in one piece

As above the.

Will be exposed connections in the wall but like I said never has an issue with either. Just pre test.

Thanks I've always used to ones were all the connections are exposed, but on a new job they want to fit H&C Contemporary Bar Valve Fixing Kit Chrome Effect | Shower Spares & Fittings | NoLinkingToThis
Seems bad practice to me having compression fittings in the wall.

any one ever fitted any on these shower towers? Premier Thermostatic Shower Panel
How'd you first fix for one of these I think they are connected on to flexis on the shower. Is it a case of bring the pipes out within the shower unit elbow up and connect to the flexis?

What's the point in using what you describe? What BP has linked is far better and you always have the chrome covers anyway so it wouldn't stand out.

ripped one out as it leaked - they have flexis at the back and shower assy just clips onto a brkt .
restricted flow through the flexis no good on tank and clinder system

So these would be first fixed by bringing the pipes out through the wall within the shower panel, elbowing up to a 15mm to 1/2inch connector for the flexi to attach on to?

yes on most

Thanks the instructions say put a backplate elbow in the wall. A nipple in to this, i.e 1/2 male to 1/2 male, then a 1/2 inch female to male elbow. The flexi connects to the male end of the elbow. Seems a lot of fittings when I could elbow then out of the wall in copper elbow up with a soldered fittings then fit a 15mm to 1/2 male fitting.

No no no no no......
1st fix pipes 1000mm/1200mm off floor, 150mm pipe centers with cap ends.
2nd fix use 'fast fix' converters (bristan) fast, easy, if theres any leaks its away from tiles (never seen leak with 1).

One i repaired was flexi/garden hose/ jubilee clip heaven! To fix the repair i had to mix match various flexi's and pipework. Was absolute horrible! Would never install 1!
