Geberit concealed cistern Leaking into Wall…

Hi all,

I was just posting on here to see if anyone has had anything similar or can point me in right direction…

I have a Geberit concealed tank within the wall so a floating toilet and over recent weeks have found that the brick work just outside of the toilet area (downstairs toilet) has become wet and damp and you can see it is wet.

The area is just behind where the toilet is located. Within the bathroom area there are no leaks / water evident since I’m an guessing it is leaking outside of the tank area (a connection or valve etc).

I have done some research myself and aware you can replace the cistern washer seal however as I don’t hear any water running and no water leaking into pan I am not sure whether this is my issue.

I am going to take it apart to inspect further and replace that seal as cost effective but struggling to see how this is my issue.

If anyone has any suggestions or advice it would be much appreciated .

What vintage is the house please?

Could it be the cold feed to the new loo got tweeked during installation, and a hidden fitting e.g. straight connector in the feed pipe hidden behind/in the wall is weeping?

I won't say anything about Yorkshire fittings at this point, nor sleeving of the pipes in walls.

P.S. very glad you are able to get your installation apart to do the exam for leaks. I'm a big fan of making things maintainable.

I wouldn't bother changing the washer seal. If it was faulty, water would be flowing into the pan.

It could be the seals from the flushpipe into the pan.
The only way you are going to have any hope of finding the leak would be to remove the pan and hope there are enough open spaces to visually inspect the connections at the bottom of the cistern, or see if you can see any water from the cold supply pipe.

Repairing anything like that would require opening the wall.

I remember that kind of thing being used to inspect gas turbine internals.

Been thinking about one to inspect inner leaf of walls from the cavity.

Yes, that’s the type. I believe Depstech are supposed to be good, haven’t used one myself. I tried an Aldi one, but it went back as the screen resolution was terrible.
