Hi, I’ve finally turned off the water and removed this valve from the bathroom tap (thanks from a beginner for the help so far). i need to replace this valve but I’m not sure what I’m looking for. my local diy store and Amazon are showing ceramic valves which look a bit like mine but not exactly. Can I use a ceramic valve?

1. Its a multi-turn tap, not 1/4 turn. If the only problem is it is dripping a bit, most likely changing the rubber washer at the very bottom of your picture will cure the problem for pennies.
2. Otherwise look at tap reviver kits from the likes of Screwfix and Toolstation.
3. In theory you could change it for 1/4 turn ceramic, but you might get flow issues if you are on a low pressure system.
4. You need to buy parts for a basin or bath tap as relevant, because they are different sizes.

Great thanks Undertrained, I have a toolstation nearby so it was a perfect link. I completely missed them when I did a search. They had one left so I pick them up tonight.

Many thanks Steadyon, the reviver kit worked perfectly, easy and quick to fit and as a bonus it looks good. Good start to the day. 😀
