Hello ,trying to change stop tap it come up from floor in garage ,The tap is stuck in the blue MDPE PIPE.. its compression fitting , the nuts have been undone and the top pipe is out the way ,however the tap is stuck in the blue pipe. Do I just give it a bit more of a pull?

Give it a twist and pull

Often change the guts on a brass stopcock if pipework/ units/wall make it almost impossible to change while tap.
Must admit I’ve never done it on a poly - don’t see why not if the body passes visual inspection, as it’s often only the moving parts that are dead.

I wouldn’t class it as ‘rough’ - just smart! Obviously sometimes the brass body is worn/damaged and whole tap needs replacing - but not very often.
