I have non return valve in the secondary return before the pump (DAB 65/150-3) which constantly rattles when the pump is running. Its been tried in both the horizontal and vertical modes with no effect. The only way I can silence it is by throttling the isolation valve on the cylinder side of the pump to around 1/3 open but this just seems to defeat the object by having to wait ages to recieve hot water at the furthest bathroom in the line.
I have advised that installing a pump with a built in non-return valve could help but I have been unable to sourse one. Can you recommend any solutions?

Why is there a NRV fitted?
Is the NRV a spring loaded type or a swing check type, if a swing check then you could probably install the spring loaded type but on the circ pump discharge side.

Hot water secondary return

sounds like there’s too much flow going through the valve have you tried turning the pump down as it only wants a trickle through

It seems to be a DAB 65..... which I think is 65dM or 6.5M, if so, this would circulate enough water for a small town, a DAB10 or less should be more than adequate, I think these pumps are single speed.

Hi. I need a new toilet supply line but don’t know the size type of the fitting at the shut off valve. It is not 3/8 compression. It is a plastic nut about the same size as the one going into the cistern but has a different thread. Attached is a photo. Can you advise. Thanks.

I have a plumber coming tomorrow to change a cartridge on a badly dripping tap on my bathroom mixer unit. There is no separate isolating valve for this tap so I'll have to close the stopcock. I tried closing it today but it won't go absolutely 100% closed and there is still a very slight flow...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...
