PPL in York. Please leave your opinions.

I am currently looking for a C&G approved centre with a view to gaining both the 6129 & 6089 certs. I have read a lot about VIY and like the sound of them, but would also like to know about PPL in York.

ppl do classroom work am then practical pm or some times its a full day of one or the other but you will not have weeks in the classroom without doing the practical, the stuf you learn in the class room you then do in the workshop. this lets you understand the process quicker, they have 3 to 4 guys in the workshop so your in a small group if you pick things up quick then you have more time to practice if you are not sure you will get more help. once you have built up your confidence and speed if your work is goodenough then there are things that are not on the C&G course that you can have a go at like plumbing electric showers, power flushing radiator systems

there are always some old jokes to lighten the mood

The thought of only having 3 to 4 guys in the workshop sounds great as you probably get more one to one tuition, but does anybody out there have any comments about any experience of having trained with ppl? as i have been plumbing for about 2 years and am looking for going a for level 2 qualification.

I would also be interested in any feedback from those that have done the PPL course as I am looking to do a career change (am I mad?!) and like the look of what they offer.

hi

i did c + g 6129 at PPL last year. the whole thing took me 10 weeks. which didn't cost me any extra.

my personal experience was a good one. i liked the trainers who were friendly and extremely knowledgeable.

i finished in november and have been working ever since. and have found the training to be thorough basis to build on. you can also phone them if you get stuck or need advice when your working

you will need a LOT of determination and HARD work to get through the course.

the tutors do not give anyone an easy ride. however the result is of course you come out with some decent skills

whats more they are very switched on to the future of plumbing - renewable energy/solar/heat pumps etc. not just churning out bathroom fitters.

its worth visiting them.
