Last year i had a new radiator installed in the bedroom, done by a friend who said he knew what he was doing.Anyway recently the radiator has not been getting warm.
Could this problem have anything to do with how the radiator has been connected.

Please view the attachment to get what i am talking about.

1. Your friend is not a plumber - witness the PTFE tape on the threads. It does nothing and looks ugly.
2. The pipe are like that because the new radiator is wider than the old one. The installer presumably did not want to lift carpet and floorboards to realign pipes.
3. The extra two elbows at each end will have no discernible effect on the heating.
4. As others have said, check the valves, particularly the TRV.
