Hi,

My boiler, which is 3 years old, has stopped working and it turns out it was the fuse.
I had an engineer resolve the issue, but when I turned the boiler off then back on it stopped working.

The fuse that was used was anF2AL250V, that's .2A

Should it have been an F2AH....?
Also, is it 2A or .2A?

TIA

Dave

why turn the boiler off?
it could be the dhw/ dhw ch switch is at fault. isn,t your boiler on a stat?
i have not turn mine off in 8yrs. as there is no need,
2 amp should be fine.

I just happened to do that is all.
I'm not in any way a plumber and wanted to ensure I'm using the correct fuse as I'm changing it myself.
So .2AL is ok to use?
I have ordered some F2AH fuses.

Apologies, please excuse my ignorance, I've no idea about dhw ch or stat.
it is an almost new Potterton Assure 30 combi boiler.

Potterton Assure Combi. 25. 30. Nominal heat input central heating — Maxi mum rate. Net (Qn Hi) ... External fuse rating. Amp. 3. 3. Internal fuse rating.
hope that solves your problem

If it's almost new, the boiler should be fixed under warranty by the manufacturer. A newish fuse blowing is not a fault in itself, it is a sign that it's doing its job protecting the supply from a fault elsewhere.

Hi they used to say as a last resort you could discharge the D2 pipework at high level and turn it back to the wall. Similar to a combi boiler. I have just looked back through the regs this seems to have changed and it isn't mentioned now. It now mentions if at high level it should be discharged...

We are from Alberta, and I own an electrical company. I have been asked by a BC Mechanical P. Eng. to install an emergency STOP button at the man-door to the boiler room. It's intent is to 'halt' the operation of the boilers in the room should there be an emergency. He is demanding that I do...

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...
