I have a C28 Heatline condensing boiler with the Overheat Safety Thermostat light flashing red. It says to check and replace and i have replaced it but still the red light is flashing so no heat or hot water. PLEASE HELP!

have you checked your conden pipe?

Yes i have its fine, i still get hot water and central heating. It only after a hour the heating is on it cuts off and gives flashing light saying "overhead thermostat"

you could have a blockage(system corrosion) or pump issues there is a filter in the flow or return that can block up and cause your symptoms i suggest you check it ot think its in the return isolation valve

Where is the return isolation vaule?

Hi, Mr Gas man is giving false advice sorry, the reason why your boiler is locking out and says "overheat thermostat" is because the boiler has over heated and has shut down which is a safety device. Your heatline boiler has two thermostats, (1) limit safety thermostat (2) overheat thermostat. From what you were describing the limit safety thermostat has failed and the No 2 overheat thermostat has kicked in.
These can be easily replaced and should cost no more than ÂŁ20 depending on were you shop.
The limit safety thermostat is found near the bottom left hand side of boiler.

Hi thanks for that, the heating it now fixed and not cutting out :) but i still have the problem of the water not gettin hot. It just about gets lukewarm :(

without looking at it, i would suggest its the diverter valve, (3 port valve). Reasons for no hot water can only be 3 things, dhw thermister, dhw flow sensor, diverter valve. Does your boiler fire up when you turn a tap on ?

Hi yes it does fire up, the boiler did work absolutely fine until a few months ago

The best advise i could give apart from calling a heating engineer round will be to phone heatline direct, i found them really helpfull, just tell them the symtoms, i can rule out the the dhw thermister cos your boiler would not fire up if this had broke. Defo still favouring towards the diverter valve. The No. for heatline is 01773 596 099. Let me know how it goes. Tim .

If there was a blockage in the return filter then surely this would cause overheat too as the water would not circulate the system properly. Its a bit harsh to say somebody is giving false advice. As we can only go on what is being said in the post and we are not there to see the problem with our own eyes

The best thing i could advise without calling out a heating engineer would be to phone heatline direct and tell the the symtoms, they are very helpfull and its could save you a fortune. right then timwilson with 4 posts and obviously highly experienced in heatlines if i am giving wrong advise and you are questioning my integrity (a big mistake) if you are so certain whats wrong why are you advising to ring heatline????????????i stand by what i have said op has not varified if he has checked the filter in the return,as for the op,s new fault diverter, motor or plate heat exchanger

Dear Mr Gas man, one did not say he was a heatline specialist, i gave advice for the first problem which had nothing to do with the latest problem
