Hi, I currently have an electric shower with a cold water mains feed to it. I would like to fit a mixer shower ( head and controls on wall only) I have a conventional boiler (situated on ground floor) with cold water storage tank in my loft that feeds a cylinder in my airing cupboard (situated on first floor) I was wondering if I can feed a mixer shower with a mains cold water feed and a feed from the pipe that delivers water to the hot tap on my bathroom sink? If this isn't possible could you suggest a way I could do it? Plus I have a pump connected to central heating and hot water systems (I added that because I'm not sure if that means my hot water is gravity fed or not)Regards Flash

whats wrong with the electric shower? i always think its a good idea to have one anything goes wrong with your boiler you got nothing IMHO

as to your question it wont work that way you will probably need a shower pump

Get somebody in who knows what they are doing, save you a lot of headaches.

Agree with SimonG, get someone in who's a professional installer. Trying to save money by doing it yourself will only cost you money.

In answer to your question, you cannot mix cold mains pressure with a gravity fed hot water supply. Both supplies need to be equal or as close too as each other with any thermostatic unit, not just a shower. If the HW is pumped then the cold mains may be balanced with it by using a pressure reducing valve on the cold mains to balance the pressure with the hot pumped supply.
