I want to replace a bath with a shower. Water pressure is low so will need a negative head pump. Access to the existing hot water tank and cold water header tank is very difficult from the bathroom in question (without a major bit of work). Questions are: 1) Can I use the hot water input for the...
Hi
I have just bought the kit to replace the CH diaphragm as the pin is not going all the way back. When I look to get in to do it there is no space to get spanner’s, screwdrivers in etc. It is all blocked by the DHW diverter, pipes and wires.
Any advise on how best to get access?
many thanks
Paul
The other day I tried flushing one of the toilets in our house, but the handle went straight down and I heard the sound of plastic breaking. Part of the 3 piece cistern had somehow become detached from a groove lock holding it in place.
The action of turning the flush handle sharply managed to...
Hi all
The other day a pipe had burst in the bathroom under the floorboards due to one of the caps (not sure of the actual technical name) falling off. This completely flooded our downstairs. The plumber said it was due to cheap inserts being used. So my question is, should we have a plumber...
Hi,
I need to replace a bath tap but the taps don't have any shut-off valves, I can do the cold water but not certain how to do the hot.
My boiler is a logic combi 30 pressurised system, how do I stop the water from flowing while I replace and will I need to fill the system again.
Thanks
Hi everyone. Hope your having a nice day.
I was wondering if anyone could help with the following ?
The existing hot and cold water pipe that leads to the bathroom on the first floor needs to be covered in the kitchen. I was proposing to do this with a plastic double pipe cover. The problem is...
Hi, I have 15 year old Cannon Caniston gas cooker and when I turn the tap for the biggest burner full on it burns as if it was only half on, this has happened over time. I have checked the flexible hose is not kinked and the gas at the main is fully on, the other burners seem to be ok. I cleaned...
Hi,
This morning, I found that my immersion heater had stopped working. The short wire that runs from the thermostat to the live terminal of the heater had fried (or at least its insulation did) and disconnected from the terminal pin.
Although I've scavenged a replacement wire from an old...
I am told that a Toby 4cc-13cc oil control valve can be used to replace my Rayburn’s faulty obsolete BM30 4cc-13cc oil control valve.
Will the Toby fit directly in place of the BM30 on the same mounting bracket on the side of the Rayburn, and are the Toby’s inlet and outlet connections in line...
Hi all,
I hope you are able to give me some advice. I have recently been upgrading the bathroom and want to replace the towel radiator. I need to move the pipes a metre or so but have come across a sticking point.
It looks like my central heating system (combi boiler) is run in 15mm pipe but...
Hi
I have got the following cold water and hot water connection to my exisiting monobloc tap. This is all new to me (apologies for being a noob) and I am trying to fit in a new monobloc tap but I'm not sure which part I should hold with one spanner and which part I should turn with the other...
Evening all,
Apologies if this has been covered in another thread - I've never called upon a forum before! 😬
We're in the process of upgrading our old heat only boiler with a new Ideal Logic heat only boiler.
So, feels like an opportune time to upgrade our ancient (albeit reliable) Sunvic...
I'd appreciate some guidance on whether my thinking is right:
Direct feed, immersion-only tank, probably about 15 years old.
Lower, side-entry element stopped heating the water at night. Testing showed that the timer was no longer switching the relay, so I replaced it. Since then, it has not...
Hello, recently my central heating stopped working and an engineer diagnosed the problem as being that the electrical connection point on the heating pump has partially melted, presumably due to the connection being poor. The pump is inside the boiler body. He recommended replacing the pump and...

Hi! My heating is working fine upstairs but downstairs is very hit and miss. Of the 6 radiators downstairs only 3 work. All radiators have been bleed and drained multiple times. I have fitted a new pump in the boiler but 3 radiators are still stone cold. Any suggestions?
Thank you!
As part of my house renovation I have decided that I will replace all the old type 11 radiators with type 21 double panel plus radiators. So the pipework for each radiator will have to be moved slightly - all the radiators are remaining in the same place.
Currently all the ceilings are...
Ah, the joys of older home ownership (1974). We thought our major plumbing issues were dealt with when we got rid of our orangeburg sewer line and our rusted out galvanized supply line to our house. It's still galvanized under the house, but we live in a very dry climate and the pipes/joints...
