Hi all hope you are all ok, my hand seem to be gathering crud in the creases on my finger's and I was wondering what you lot use to keep them clean and smooth. Is swarfega still the best or is there a new king of handcare?
Merry Christmas, Dave
Has anyone dismantled these before... The water pressure / flow rate has dropped right off on the hot & cold outlets, I suspect the inlet filter is full of debris. I only recall changing one of these once & it took ages to pull out as it was a pig of a job! I'm referring to the big plastic...
Hello all,
Quick confirmation question!
I am currently getting quotes for central heating, looking to do most of the work myself to save money. My current system is 20 years old, with an old Ideal Elan 2 boiler, and a "Mainsflow" hot water cylinder. I've had some issues in the past with...
So I have an ikea sink set up which has been fine for months. Recently the water hasn't been draining away very quickly and actually, due to having a double sink, will fill both sinks when emptying water into one. I took the waste pipe off to see if I could see an immediate blockage. Nothing. I...
Hi Fellas,
Have a larger job that's starting to have flow problems.
The system as 2 - 250 kw boilers servicing probably 300+rads.
The system was installed @ 15 years ago and stated previously starting to have flow problems to sections of the building, particularly the radiators at the end...
Do you guys actually use these? Or just use the brushes you have on van. I see the junior has a baffle removal tool, can you get these out without it? It says in the manual that the baffles do get stuck and so you will need this tool. Not cheap at £27 though
Hi all,
Just quoting for a boiler replacement job. Was wondering how you guys go about cleaning a micro-bore system that has signs of existing corrosion in the radiators (3 of the 12 rads heating up at the top only). My thought was to take off all the rads, clean them out with mains pressure...
Hi all
Just joined the forum
I spent this afternoon replacing a radiator which had a leak in the bottom & am planning on giving the heating system a proper clean with Fernox F3 as soon as the weather gets a little colder so it can have a week to run through the system.
Because I had to...

Hi, I was just wondering if someone could assist us. We leave in a flat in London NW3 and we have a cold water tank under our roof ( approx 1m wide, 60cm high and 60cm deep) . The tank clearly needs cleaning, lid placed on top (it currently does not have any lid) and water tested or...

A care home has had a legionella report carried out and it suggests cleaning out the cold water storage tank. They are nothing special, just standard domestic sized plastic ones.
Whats used to do this? Is it a case of draining them and cleaning them with a chlorine solution?
Hi all,
Has anyone looked into getting extra work abroad? I recently went and spent a month out in Spain at my father/mother in law's (he's also in the trade) and there's so much work out there for English migrants it's insane.
My in-laws moved out there to retire and now my father in law...
Hello,

There is a solidified mass on the base of the toilet bowl, think it might have solidified from some cleaning agent.
Any advice on how to remove ?
Its still fairly hard to the base.
All tip and advice greatly appreciated.

I'm the maintenance supervisor for a housing provider.
I've been asked to clean the jets on a gas cooker because there are only 3 rings working.
My lads are maintenance guys and are not Gas Safe.
Do you have to be Gas Safe to do this work?
