cistern

A cistern (Middle English cisterne, from Latin cisterna, from cista, "box", from Greek κίστη kistē, "basket") is a waterproof receptacle for holding liquids, usually water. Cisterns are often built to catch and store rainwater. Cisterns are distinguished from wells by their waterproof linings. Modern cisterns range in capacity from a few litres to thousands of cubic metres, effectively forming covered reservoirs.

How to determine the right shape and size of a Wirquin Macdee Metro Rapid siphon for a specific cistern

I am planning to get a new WC for the downstairs cloakroom in our house. We have two possible WCs in mind. Both have a cistern with a lever rather than a push button on the middle of the lid, which is what my wife and I prefer. I am concerned about the siphons supplied with the cisterns. I have...

How do I get the lid off this cistern?

It looks like a standard 2 push button lid, but there are not slots for a flat head screw driver to go into the buttons to lift them up. It is a B&Q toilet I think (from previous owners ) so are there any specific tricks required to access the cistern on these units? Grateful for any help.

Geberit Omega 82 Flush - not filling pan.

Geberit Omega 82cm cisterns; 3 toilets - all the same. On the upper floors, the toilets flush sufficiently for the water to cover the full rim of the toilet and pan. On the ground floor, the flush seems weaker and the pan isn't fully rinsed by the flush. We've adjusted the flush volume but it...

Cistern needs replacing but on inspection looks like a bigger problem...

The other day I tried flushing one of the toilets in our house, but the handle went straight down and I heard the sound of plastic breaking. Part of the 3 piece cistern had somehow become detached from a groove lock holding it in place. The action of turning the flush handle sharply managed to...

I have a concealed cistern in a 20 year-old house. It is the old syphon type, and over the last couple of months it has started to have an intermittent problem. It seems like the siphon washer/diaphragm is failing, and sometimes it's hard to get the siphon to start, and it takes repeated...
