Hi all,

I'm in the process of upgrading my heating system my pro proposed plan below.

Move existing boiler into loft (ideal heat + 18)

Brand new kingspan tribune he 180l unvented indirect in loft next to boiler.

Every room on own zone 6 in total.

Nest gen3 in living room and dhw control.

Every other room on dt92e wireless stat's. Seems expensive to have all nest stats.

Re plumb all rads to acomadate the single zoning.

Feed up of heating a room when theirs no need. Also have thermo valve's but their just not acurate enough.

Thoughs please, also cousin is doing the tank he's G3.

Thanks Matt

Switch the nest for a Hive;)

Or evohome the lot and you won't have to re pipe all the rads

Was looking into the EVO home system. But was reading reviews that's it was only reading the temp near to the rad. But also seen the wall mounted stats but don't know if these connected to the stat on the rad if that makes sense.

Have a word with the evo home shop great set of guys

I think multizone systems are great if you're able to afford the labour cost/are DIYing. You can heat any room you want without needing to heat the rest of house, and you never find yourself with a cold room because you've just turned the rad on in a room and there is no call for heat from the thermostat.
Just bear in mind your radiators may need to be slightly larger to accommodate increased heat losses through internal walls when you have one unheated room adjacent to a heated room, and worth lagging pipework if it passes through/under a potentially unheated area to reach a heated area.
Good luck with your project!

Thanks ric2013,

All pipes will be lagged in rockwool pipe insulation. Currently have no insulation under the suspended timber floor downstairs so getting under the floor this Weekend and insulating :). Don't know weather to do all pipe work to the rads in plastic or copper?

Use copper ( would be my prefference) and don’t use the wool stuff use the insulated stuff. It’s a little more expensive but much better
