I am having a problem with my toilet tank overflowing. When the toilet is flushed the tank fills up over the mark where it used to and it goes down the overflow pipe in to the bowl.

Is there any easy fix for this?

The lower the blue float bell is the lower the water level will be
Pull the blue float down gently to alter leveltake care not to snap it.

I have tried this but no luck. There was a screw mechanism to lower the float but the water comes quite a bit over the top of the float and back in to the over flow pipe.

Matt

Edit:
I just shut the wate off completely to stop wasting water. The water level in the tank went back down to normal so maybe its a problem with the mechanism that fills it back up?

Yes.
New float valve needed
You need a bottom entry float valve.
Turn off water, flush loo to empty tank,un screw water connection, also unscrew valve holding nut, swap valves, tighten up nuts, water on, check dry.
