Hi All,

Had a badly limestone scaled toilet - especially and under the rim.

Removed most with Killrock and Spirit of Salts no problem.

Now left with a very hard rough thin pale grey deposit between the holes and the inside edge of the rim which I cant shift.

Any suggestions on what it is and how (preferably chemically) I might shift it?

Wow, spirit of salts is very strong and dangerous if not used correctly, I'm surprised it's even readily available in the UK. It will dissolve cement, concrete and brick and I'm guessing it might even attack the glaze if it was used too concentrated or left too long.

I buy it from the local hardware store lol

I was coming to the 'unglazed' conclusion except I cant figure why. Its not like its regular or anything and why would it be unglazed?. And why a narrow irregular strip? And why next to the water outlets which has to make it easier for limescale to form?

I'm really only interested in fixing it in case my Mother-in-Law springs a surprise inspection (that was a joke :) )!

So, in the absence of any other suggestions I think I'll go for the 'patch it and forget it' solution with a Cramer Ceramic repair kit

Thanks to all

(32% Hydrochloric acid - very nasty stuff - is available for around £4/litre from my local hardware store!)

Hi guys. I'm trying to identify a toilet model before ordering a seat for a customer. I went to what used to be a Roca stockist (they no longer are) and one of the guys there reckoned it might be "The Gap". I went to the new stockist and the guy there disagreed it was "The Gap" and that he'd...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
