Stopcock cut out, what fittings to replace?

Hi guys.

Been to that stopcock job tonight and the customer has asked me to cut the existing one out and replace.

The pipework will be getting upgraded to copper/mdpe at some point apparently.

Can someone help with the fittings needed? see pics.

The end of the stopcock with no fitting attached was screwed in to an elbow and the other side has obviously been cut.

I'm thinking bush(?) in to the elbow with fitting and section of pipe added. Then the new stopcock, what is the best fitting to connect to the cut pipe? Johnson coupling? Is that ok long term though??

Any help appreciated.

Take it to a good merchant, from memory a Johnson fitting would do.

Looks ideal thanks, are they likely to be kept on the shelf in local merchants or would I be better off going to Grahams or Plumbcenter etc?

I have just been out to the van and with the bit of pipe that I have still attached to the stopcock, I grabbed a 22-15 compression reducer from the van and put the pipe in and tightened it as much as I could and it felt ok but think I may be pushing my luck going for that option.

God no! Use the right fittings. For insurance purposes at least.

Thanks Leo, looks like Plumbcenter have a variety of those philmac fittings, early start for me tomorrow get in there before work and see what I can get!.

Most large companies will hold alot of philmac stuff in stock I was after some the other day and plumb center, city plumbing and plumb base all had them in stock. so I would imagine a local supplier would as well

I wouldn't of cut that, would of removed the thread and put a female iron on and changed to copper and done the same on other side with stop tap in middle. I would be very worried putting a philmac on steel!! travis or plumbase in buildbase sell philmac fittings, more of a building centre fitting then a plumb centre fitting!

How would you unscrew the stop tap if it's tight to the wall?

Johnson coupling, male iron and stopcock with a little bit of pipe.

Took me longer than expected but the customer was really happy, also said he wants a combi boiler swapped. Probably wont hear about that for another 6 months but job was completed and all working ok.
