Finished fitting a full system in a second floor flat with seven flights of stairs last night including removing 3 night store heaters. The final push saw me up and down the stairs loading the wagon up and removing the rubbish for 3 hours. I can hardly walk today. Must remember to get my nephew to take a few days off to help me if I get any more jobs like this.

Supper plum would travel mike. I'll pm him for you old mate.

Bit tough getting away with lobbing it over the balcony then. I did a bathroom on the sixth floor once that was a pain too but least got away with using the service elevator though

I worked in someones attic recently and found the old bathroom suite inc bath in the attic along with bags of tiles etc!! Didnt have the heart to tell the old couple as they were so pleased with the new bathroom their local plumber installed and it was sooo cheap! my bill to replace the leaking pipework from the storage tank put it up a bit, apparently the plumber didnt want to come back and investigate!!

I feel your pain, it's good idea at the time. Or did you put a big quote in thinking you wouldn't get it?

I allowed myself 5 days to do the job on the quote and did it in 5 days but had to pull away early a couple of times to sort out a couple of breakdowns and had a couple of late starts due to breakdowns so I was spot on time wise.

I got the job because i quoted for something different to everyone else. All the other quotes were for a combi but the existing gas supply was insufficient for a combi. It worked out okay for a system boiler alongside a cooker so I quoted for this with a SS cylinder and controls as well as for a combi with a new gas run and came out a much better price than all the quotes with a new 28mm gas run up the outside of the building.

im up for it if you get any more??

been to some jobs where theres no loft ladder or anything into the loft can be funny getting tanks tools etc through the hatch

Hi, I seemed to have a blockage in kitchen sink. A plumber came and cleared all the pipework that is visible inside my home (there was debris and pebbles!) We saw that the pipe that takes water down the gutter was visibly full to the top. He said he will return with a coil to push through...

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...

Hello all, I’m replacing a concrete paving slab patio in the back yard. The original patio used 50mm deep concrete slabs on hardcore & sand. I’m planning to pour a 100mm deep concrete patio on 100mm hardcore. In order to achieve the same final height to line up with the rest of the patio, I...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
