Hi all, first post hope someone can help. Have a Bungalow with two bathrooms, kitchen, and one toilet with basin, all fed off a tank in the roof and cylinder at ground level. The hot water is pumped to kitchen, bathrooms and toilet, all hot taps run ok except one that is in one of the bathrooms. All pipes are hidden so don't know if it's first on line or last, the problem is that you turn hot tap on, water runs fine for a few seconds and then stops and so doe's the pump, you get a trickle and then it starts pumping again and the water flows ok, this can happen several times before the basin is filled. Any thoughts on this problem, the system was in when we moved in. Thanks for your time.

Hi truemanufan thanks for the quick reply, can the air lock be cleared in the usual way of connecting to the mains with hose and blow it back, will it get past the pump. Thanks.

If you can't find an airlock, disconnect the hot to the tap and attach hose.
Turn on & if the pump works ok, the problem is probably the tap.

Ok Blod, will do and thank you for your time, will update once I have done all the above. Thanks.

sounds like it could be the tap. Check and make sure it does not have a blending valve to the hot tap also. if it does that could be at fault.

Could it be that the tap is designed for gravity systems yet is being pumped?

thats not normally a problem its gravity on hp taps thats a problem if all the other taps activate the pump id suspect the tap try running it with the head removed and someone holding there hand over the hole best done when the water is cold if it runs ok like that its the tap

Well lad's thanks for your input, have blown mains back up the hot pipe it wasn't an airlock, turned inline valve to restrict flow, not that, then ran the hot with flexi disconnected from hot tap still doing the same, run's ok for a few seconds then slow for a few seconds, then ok and so on. Just a point that maybe of help, I connected mains to flexi hose on hot tap and ran it for about one minute, to push existing water and any air back up into the tank , then reconnected flexi back onto tap opened inline valve turned tap back on and in ran fine and thought we had solved problem, but then realised it was the mains water coming back down again and once cleared it started playing up again. Anyone know where to go from here?????????? Thanks.
