pumping
Pumping stations, also called a pumphouse in situations such as drilled wells and drinking water, are facilities including pumps and equipment for pumping fluids from one place to another. They are used for a variety of infrastructure systems, such as the supply of water to canals, the drainage of low-lying land, and the removal of sewage to processing sites. A pumping station is, by definition, an integral part of a pumped-storage hydroelectricity installation.
have moved a pump by new boiler so could wire for pump overrun as no live in airing cupboard, but now I am worried about air ingress into the system as system is under negative pressure.
Anyone got any tricks to help prevent this?? or know how to get pump over to airing cupboard without...
I'm looking for help with an open vented central heating system that is pumping over. We have a thermal store that has two heat sources - gas central heating, and a wood burner - both feeds are pumped with a Wilo Smart A 25/4-130 circulation (one pump per feed). When the wood burner kicks in...

I'm trying to make sense of a system I've came across. One part that's caught my attention is the position of the pump.
The system is pumping over when the stove is lit. As you can see the pump is directed toward a tee heading towards a 28mm elbow which I believe is the stoves return. The...
Hi, I have a stove pumping over into the f&e.
The pump and thermostat both work and the system is free from sludge (very clear for an open vented system).
The layout seems a bit funny to me but the customer reckons its worked for years. (I did spot two vents into the F&E so maybe someone was...
Looking for some input here from the experts.
I’m having an issue with my pump. I thought I’d get away with a positive pump as I put it beside the cylinder. I’ve run all the bathrooms off it but the attic bathroom won’t work as the faucets are above the tank head. I wonder if I change the pump...
Hi, I'm a DIY plumber and new to the forum, and would appreciate some advice.
I have an oil fired boiler heating a smallish house. I just took out my old (20 years) copper hot water cylinder and replaced it with a new stainless steel Indirect Unvented cylinder.
The old system had a pump on...
A bit of a story but please bear with me.
I have just sent 10 days away having switched off the the central heating controller and boiler. This is someting I do not normally do. I usually just turn down the C.H. thermostat but leave the hot water timed. The system is open vented, Y plan When I...
Sprinkler system with a 1/2 horse pump works fine for over 25 years, This year as it is pumping to the 4 zones which is working fine with normal pressure, the shower head in my upstairs bath is now leaking water from the head. The water is turned off as normal but the water is coming out of the...
Got an open vented system with two 2 port valves and a fairly recent ‘electronic’ pump, set to fixed speed 2.
In the recent colder weather, I turned the boiler up a bit and then became aware the boiler was singing so turned the pump to 3.
By chance noticed an icicle hanging from the expansion...
Happy New Year all. Just been out to a noisy gravity system where pipes are making a racket. Checked vent in f and and e tank and it's warm full of brown sludgy water. Am I right in saying that the see sawing of dirty water will make the system dirtier and pull in air over time. pump speed was...
Ive got to add a pump to 2 x 100 gallon tanks to pump to a Worcester 38cdi combi to supply hot water instead of using mains water.
Ive been recommended a rp80su 2.4bar by salamander pumps.
Anyone fitted tank pumps for combi's, how did it go, did it all work ok?
Any advice much appreciated.

Hi, Am new to this forum so please go easy on me!! :) Am a keen DIYer, completed level 2 plumbing at college some time ago but do not work in the trade.
In the summer i checked out the F&E tank in the loft and noticed it was full of sludge so decided to vac it all out and give it a good clean...
I know this is not recommended by manufacturer but hear me out, would like to pick your brains on this one.
1. Small flat 1x shower, only 1 person living, 210L combination cylinder with salamander pump? Surely it won't run out with the extra capacity?
2. Cold water is 2 bar so too low for...
Just after a bit of advice.

F an E are in correct place with air jec but its about waist height in the airing cupboard. was going to combine the F and...

Problem with pumping over on a domestic vented central heating system.... I am a fairly capable diy'er and have started to tackle the CH in our home, the system had started pumping over into the F&E tank. I had initially put it down to a failing pump (getting noisy) pump changed bit of gunk...
Hi all,
I went to look at a job today in which the header tank is full of hot water and overflowing.
There is back boiler and the pipework runs upstairs to the cylinder but i can see no valves. I did not want to take out the fire and told the customer that I would prefer to do some research...
