What material is this pipe coming in?

Lead?

If so, should it be replaced?

Yes its lead by the look of it. I can also see a bit of 1/2" or 25mm brass or copper apparently soldered in to a 3/4" lead to lead stoptap.

It does look as though its probably a 3/4" imperial lead main in 9 or 11lb lead.

The modern policy is to renew it.

Some utility companies have policies about renewing lead mains and you can get a grant from them, but it seems to differ from company to company what you get.

Thanks for the helpful reply.

Should it be upgraded with biggest diameter pipe available. What do you recommend.

Hi jono1 agree with Bernies post I think most water undertakers [suppliers ] tend to bring in 25mm polymains[mdpe] for supplies when renewing hope you are lucky and qualify for a grant or free installation:)regards turnpin
