hi guys just wandering do any of you guys have the part p cert, you must need it for fitting showers. cheers.

I do but I still get an electrician in. (My electrician can do plumbing but he still gets his plumber in!)

dont need an electrician to change a shower - but if its a new one going in then i get a spark in - you can spend an awful lot trying to get every qualification going matey - but in the long run its better to specialise in one trade - than be jack of all

part p relates to electrical installations, this includes electric showers believe it or not, as i said currently do it myself and get sparky to sign off after hes made all the checks, however this can delay finishing job as he is also a very busy man.

installing a shower - but like for like is not part p is it ? im probably mistaken haha. yeah running the cable from fuse box is part p - but i didnt think taking shower off wall and fitting a new one was - i thought that was in our scope of works

i'd quite like a definitve answer on this. i suspect you technically need part p for it but few bother.

full central heating wiring systems require you to be part p

well thats shocked me also - i only completed my level 3 last year and my tutor who is also 17th edition qualified - told us that we only needed part p if we had to go into the ring main - i can wire to a fused spur and also do my own central heating wiring as long as i didnt interupt the ring main according to him?

I thought it was best practice to have the central heating on a seperate circuit on it's own. Confusion reigns!! All I know for certain is that if you qualify for the full blown Part P none of this stuff affects you.
