just thinking of extra safety in the house, I can however smell gas before most people proberly don't need it. When I get the boiler seviced I also get gas tightness test.why do you need it, if you are concernd just get a g.r.e. to come once a year and do a gas test for you.

I'd spend the money on smoke/fire alarms and fire extinguishers, etc. rather than gas (methane) detectors.
